JALUKBARI, Feb 22 - A 16-member team of Gauhati University will be participating in the 12th South Asian Universities Festival (SAUFEST) to be held at Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, Chattisgarh under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) from February 23 to 26.
Altogether 10 countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India – will be participating in the Festival.
The GU cultural team will participate and represent India in folk orchestra and folk dance. It may be mentioned that the winners and the runners-up of the Inter-University National Youth Festival 2017-18 held at Ranchi University, Jharkhand will participate and represent India in the SAUFEST in different events.
GU Vice Chancellor Dr Mridul Hazarika while extending his good wishes to the team, said that the students would be able to get a good platform for showcasing their talents at an international-level festival and hoped that this would bring a sense of universal brotherhood and unity among the students of the participating countries.
Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati, Director, Students’ Welfare, GU said the students should come forward to take this opportunity to showcase their talents in such big international-level competitions and hoped that it would be a good medium of cultural exchange to broaden their perspectives and build up their confidence for achieving excellence in their respective fields.
The team will be led by Dr Kakati and Kuldeep Patgiri.
