|15 arrested for anti-India statements|
GUWAHATI, Feb 22 - The Assam Police has so far arrested 15 persons in connection with 16 cases registered against those who had allegedly made ‘anti-national’ and ‘pro-Pakistan’ statements in social media post the February 14 Pulwama attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
The arrests have been made in connection with the cases registered with different police stations in 13 districts of the State, informed senior State minister Himanta Biswa Sarma here today.
Those arrested have been identified as Hafixur Rahman, Ahezuddin, Khairul Alam Laskar, Saikul Alam Laskar, Riajul Laskar, Shahapur Islam, Anwar Hussain, Rahul Hussain, Jintu Khan, Rahul Tanti, Mansu Ali, Ujjal Nath, Omar Faruque Abdulla, Dilaor Hussain and Rangman Misong.
Another minor has also been named as an accused in a similar case, while Papori Banerjee, assistant professor of English at Icon Commerce College, is absconding.
