Mamoni Raisom chosen for Asom Ratna

 GUWAHATI, Feb 21 – Eminent litterateur and Jnanpith awardee Dr Mamoni Raisom Goswami has been chosen for the Asom Ratna honour for the year 2010.

This was announced by Cultural Affairs Minister Bharat Narah today. Dr Goswami has been chosen for the honour for her invaluable contribution towards Assamese literature.

Three other noted authors, i.e., Imran Shah, Kamalkumari Barua and Lakshahira Das have been chosen for the Azan Pir, Chandraprova Saikiani and Amalprova Das awards respectively.

Narah also stated that the State Government would soon announce five more awards after cultural and historical luminaries Bhimbor Deuri, Padmanath Gohain Barua, Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah, Lachit Borphukan and Sati Joymoti.
