GUWAHATI, Feb 20 - NorthEast United’s dismal show in the Indian Super League continued as they went down 1-5 against Hyderabad FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Sarusajai here today.
In a match between the two bottom-placed sides, the visitors who came into the match placed at the bottom thrashed the hosts with complete ease. Despite the defeat the Highlanders remain in the ninth spot.
The visitors took the lead through Liston Colaco in the 11th minute. Nestor Gordillo sent in a long ball for Colaco which saw NEUFC custodian Pawan Kumar come out of the box to clear the danger. But the goalkeeper missed the ball and Colaco made no mistake in slotting it into an empty net.
Marcelinho doubled the lead for Hyderabad in the 13th minute while Andy Keogh pulled one back for the hosts with a clinical header from Martin Chaves’ cross from the left in the 35th minute. The Hyderabad outfit didn’t take much long to respond as Colaco secured his brace by scoring their third goal in the 40th minute.
Mohammed Yasir scored Hyderabad’s fourth goal in the 55th minute to rub salt into the hosts’ wounds while Marcelinho completed the rout in the 88th minute.
