Bengal clinch AG cricket title

 GUWAHATI, Feb 20 - AG Bengal clinched the title in the IA and AD East Zone Cricket tournament.

 In the final played at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara here today, Bengal defeated Odisha by 27 runs.

In reply to Bengal’s 170 for nine in 20 overs, Odisha scored 143.

However, both the teams have qualified for the inter zonal championship which will be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from March 26 to 29.

Gitimoy Basu of Bengal was named man of the match while Govind Poddar of Odisha got the man of the tournament award. Shesdeep Patra (Odisha) and Aswini Kumar (Bihar) were adjudged the best bowler and best batsman respectively.

In the closing function, former Assam Ranji captain Rajesh Bora and tournament committee convenor Abdul Rauf gave away the prizes.

The tournament was organized by AG (A&E) Assam.
