CITY correspondent
GUWAHATI, Feb 20 - The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has declared all major airports of the North East as free from single-use plastic. As many as 85 airports in the country have earned this tag now.

All major airports of the North East, including the LGBI Airport at Guwahati, the MBB Airport at Agartala, and those located at Dibrugarh, Imphal, Silchar, Shillong, Dimapur and Jorhat, have been declared as single-use plastic-free.

Various steps were taken to eliminate single-use plastic items at the NE and other airport terminal buildings. These steps include a ban on single-use plastic items like straws, plastic cutleries, plastic plates, etc., and use of other packaging alternatives.
