Suspension of SDO(C), co welcomed
 HATSINGIMARI, Feb 20 – The people of Hatsingimari, police personnel, employees of the SDO (C) office and the teachers, who recently performed presiding and polling duties, have expressed satisfaction over the news of suspension of SDO (C), Hatsingimari PK Saikia and Circle Officer, Mankachar, AK Brahma who were considered responsible for the unexpected incident that took place on February 15 in which three person died in police firing and a number of vehicles and buildings were damaged by demonstrators.Following the report of the Lower Assam Commissioner and Home Commissioner, who visited Hatsingimari after the incident, the Principal Secretary, Rajib Bora suspended the SDO (C), PK Saikia by his letter vide No AAP. 55/2013/3 and Mankachar circle officer AK Brahma by his letter No AAP.55/2013/4 with effect from February 18.

It is alleged that PK Saikia, the SDO (C) of Hatsingimari acted whimsically with out consulting any other staff. In every step of the election process, he allegedly took some wrong decision said some employees of the office which resulted in the untoward incidents. The SDO (C), spent the maximum amount in the construction cell, electrical cell and transport cell where he engaged some of his favourite contractors and allegedly took huge commissions but he could not provide even a cup of tea to the presiding and polling officers during their training showing scarcity of fund. Official sources informed that more than 500 vehicles were shown hired for transportation of polling staff but due to shortage of vehicles, the polling staff had to wait for 12 hours at Hatsingimari on February 10 last even after receiving the polling materials without being provided any meal. These caused the first incident on February 10 last.

On the other hand, Arup Kumar Brahma, the circle officer, who was incharge of panchayat election and incharge of transport cell misbehaved with the office employees.
