Genesis bag Servo cricket title

 GUWAHATI, Feb 20 – Genesis Club handed a 6-wicket drubbing to Navajyoti Club in the final of the Servo Guwahati Challenge Trophy Cricket Tournament. In an one-sided affair at the Judges’ Field here today, chasing a moderate victory target of 185 in 40 overs, Genesis, buoyed by a 121-ball 123 off Manoj Malo’s blade, reached the target in the 36th over.

Man-of-the-man and series Manoj almost single handedly took his team to the winning target. Earlier, Navajyoti scored 184 in 40 overs losing all the wickets. Parvez Aziz was their top scorer with 98 off 93 balls. The tournament was organised by River Rine Club. Diganta Barman and Bikash Das were the umpires of the match while Manas Das was the scorer.

Sanzow Brahma of Navajyoti, Debajit Das of Genesis, Utpal Medhi of Genesis were adjudged best batsman, best bowler and best fielder respectively.

Brief scores: Navajyoti 184 (Parvez Aziz 98, Arminder Singh Oberoi 33, Debajit Das 3/33, Ranjit Mali 2/29). Genesis 190/4 (Manoj Malo 123, Roshan Basfor 19, Bikash Chetri 3/44).
