Strike hits normal life in Tripura
Correspondent
AGARTALA, Feb 20 Normal life was severely affected across Tripura as the two-day nationwide strike began today.

However, no untoward incident was reported during the strike, police said. Banking operations and public transport were hit as the two-day nation-wide strike called by trade unions to press for wage hike in the backdrop of rising inflation began this morning.

All banks, insurance companies, educational institutions and commercial establishments across the State remained shut, organisers said.

Functioning of government offices including the Civil Secretariat was hit following the strike. Commuters, particularly school children and office goers faced inconvenience as auto-rickshaws and taxi unions decided to support the strike.

Though the air service functions as usual at Agartala airport, the train services were stalled following the bandh.
