GUWAHATI, Feb 20 – Creativity Festival, Ethnic Food and Handicrafts Festival, Music Video-Animation-Short Film festival, Friendship and Rabab Tenga Festival – all these are part of Jeevan Kite Festival organised by voluntary association Jeevan Initiative on the Brahmaputra banks behind Sonaram field here from March 1 to 3.
The festival will witness open kite flying and kite war by public and celebrities besides a kite workshop by experts and a kite exhibition. In collaboration with the Gauhati Artists’ Guild, the festival will have an art competition on the theme of river Brahmaputra, besides an open exhibition and an art camp. Those interested may submit their painting, cartoon, photograph, etc., at the office of the Guild, at Chandmari.
A photography workshop will also be conducted during the festival in collaboration with the Photography Club of Assam. A three-day art workshop will also be held at the festival venue by world record holder Robin Bar. Another highlight of the festival is a three-day practical television anchoring workshop.
There will be an open zone at the festival venue where one may arrange for public releasing of their song, album, book and other creations. A story and poetry camp and cultural extravaganzas featuring leading bands and artistes are also in the festival agenda. Every evening on a backdrop of thousands of earthen lamps and sky lantern kites, the artistes will perform songs addressed to the mighty Brahmaputra River to the accompaniment of folk music, choreography and live painting. An ethnic food and craft festival is also part of the festival bonanza.
Simultaneously, India’s first Music Video, Animation and Short Film Festival is also being organised. And a friendship and Rabab Tenga festival with innovative games like Rabab Thief, Rabab Hunter, Rabab Eater, Rabab Ball, Rabab Run, etc., will be played among the public. The friendship zone will have segments like confession box, adopt a grandchild, eye for the blind, make a friend circle etc.
A list of 200 good news for Assam and a special edition of Jeevan magazine will also be released during the festival. Awards of various contests will be presented in a ceremony. A bike cum photography tour to Kaziranga by Eco Tourism Society of North East will be flagged off and down at the festival venue.
