Jorhat take lead vs Karimganj

 GUWAHATI, Feb 20 – Jorhat took a first innings lead of 22 runs on the opening day of the two-day Nuruddin Trophy Senior Inter District Plate Group Super League match here at the Nehru Stadium today.

Karimganj elected to bat first and were all out for 124 in their first innings with Raja Roy being the top scorer with unbeaten 73. Raja and Hibjur Rahman Choudhury (12) were the only Karimganj batsmen to get to double figures while all the other nine batsmen were out cheaply.

Jorhat spinner Dayal Krishna Dutta was in devastating form and came out with a rich haul of seven wicket. Medium pacer Angshuma Sarma took other three wickets.

In reply, Jorhat, after a dismal start finally managed to score 147 in their first innings.

At stumps, Karimganj were 14 for two in their second innings. Earlier, Tezpur defeated Bongaigaon by an innings and 44 runs yesterday.

Brief scores: Karimganj 1st innings 124 (Raja Roy 73, Dayal Krishna Dutta 7/35, Angshuman Sarma 3/37).

Jorhat 1st innings 146 (Kaushik Hazarika 25, Parthiv Hazarika 19, Pargot Bora 18, Subodh Rathi 4/40, Amitav Das 2/32).
