Garlosa reviews status of welfare schemes
HAFLONG, Feb 16 - With an intention to review implementation of the government’s welfare plans, Chief Executive Member (CEM) Debolal Garlosa held a meeting with all the departmental heads of the entrusted welfare departments under North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) at the CEM’s conference hall on Thursday.

This was the first review meeting after assuming office as CEM for this term. Along with him, eight other newly-inducted members of the autonomous council (MACs), including chairperson Ranu Langthasa, principal secretaries TT Daulagupu and Mukut Kemprai along with council secretaries Zovi Nampui and Megonjoy Thaosen were also present in the meeting.

Stressing on proper implementation of works allotted for development under various departments, the CEM instructed the departments concerned that any hindrance on completion of works or projects caused due to contractors’ negligence should be brought to his notice and, if need be, those particular contractors would be black-listed. Making his objectives clear as a CEM, Gorlosa stated that there will be no compromise in Dima Hasao’s march towards development no matter how many challenges he may need to overcome.

“Practical schemes with proper implementation is necessary in order to bring progress within the district. I shall ensure that each work is implemented properly during these five years,” Gorlosa said.

Reviewing all works very minutely during the meeting with officials of the PWD, PHE, Education, Medical, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Veterinary departments etc., the CEM instructed that all pending works be completed well within the stipulated deadlines. He directed officials of PWD (Road Division) to speed up road construction works before commencement of the rainy season.

Referring to officials in the Education Department, he said he will keep a special watch on teachers’ attendance in the rural areas considering the poor state of education in the district.

Stating that many notable changes have already been brought about in Dima Hasao during his short tenure of two-and-a-half years as the CEM during the previous term, he is far more confident that in the next five years Dima Hasao will witness a lot of developmental works and resultant progress. Thanking all the officials for their inputs during the meeting, CEM Debolal Gorlosa requested all the newly-inducted MACs, departmental officials and also the public for cooperation in his attempt to develop Dima Hasao.
