Heroin worth Rs 4.50 cr seized in Manipur |
IMPHAL, Feb 16 - The Tengnoupal Battalion of Headquarters 26 Sector Assam Rifles nabbed two alleged narcotics smugglers carrying 1.12 kg of heroin worth approximately Rs 4.50 crore at Khudengthabi Check Post, about 90 km from here, along the Imphal-Moreh Highway in Tengnoupal district bordering Myanmar, a press release stated.
On February 15, based on specific inputs, a team of Assam Rifles men stopped a Hyundai Eon car (WB 06 J 9465) travelling from Moreh to Imphal, Assam Rifles (South) PRO said in the release.
The team recovered two big packets and 33 small packets containing white powder suspected to be heroin. The weight of the contraband, including the packing material, is 1.12 kg and the approximate value of the contraband is Rs 4.50 crore.
The two apprehended persons identified themselves as Md Bharul Islam (22), a resident of Lilong, and Md Ina (31), a resident of Hatta Mana Ingkhol, Porompat subdivision of Imphal.
The apprehended duo, along with the recovered drugs, were handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau, Imphal.
