Royal scion tipped to be Tripura Cong chief
AGARTALA, Feb 16 - A new incumbent to the post of the president of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee is likely to be announced soon. According to information available from Delhi, AICC president Rahul Gandhi has already approved of appointment of royal scion Pradyot Kishore as the new Congress president of the State.

Following continuous failure of the State Congress to revive itself, especially in the aftermath of the disastrous performance of the party in the last Assembly election, the AICC has been mulling a change of guard in the State unit of the party.

Even as the thought process was on, Rahul Gandhi’s close confidante and royal scion from Gwalior, Jyotiraditya Scindia, a close relative of Pradyot Kishore, started batting for him, sources from Delhi said.

With the Lok Sabha elections drawing near, Gandhi has been under pressure from various quarters to ensure victory of the Congress in at least one Lok Sabha seat from Tripura, the sources added.
