SILCHAR, Feb 15 - The Cachar district administration distributed laptops under the Anundoram Borooah Awards Scheme among students in the district on Friday.
Cachar Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri said as many as 779 students who had secured more than 75 per cent marks in the HSLC examination for the year 2018 were given laptops under the initiative of the State government.
She encouraged the students to keep their focus on studies and urged them to make the best use of the technologies available.
Former Union Minister Kabindra Purakayastha gave away laptops to 20 students at the event held at the Police Parade ground. Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul informed that the government has pumped a significant amount of money into the education sector in the recently placed budget.
Sonai MLA Aminul Haque Laskar and Borkhola MLA Kishore Nath also encouraged the students to study more. Cachar Inspector of Schools Samina Yesmin Ara delivered the welcome address.
