GUWAHATI, Feb 15 - Sattriya dance exponent Preetilekha Dutta Choudhury, together with Mumbai-based Sangeet Bharati, is organising a Sattriya musical evening on February 16 at the Mumbai Sangeet Bharati auditorium, on the occasion of the 89th birth anniversary of noted Sankaradeva scholar Late Prof Keshavananda Deva Goswami.
The function is titled ‘Kirtiyasya,’ said a press communique here on Thursday.
Besides paying rich tributes to the Late scholar, several noted Sattriya artistes will perform in the function. The artistes include Naren Chandra Barua, Dr Devika Saikia, Khol artiste Bipul Oja of Barpeta, singer Saurabhjyoti Mahanta and Preetilekha Dutta Choudhury, among others.
The disciples of Preetilekha Dutta Choudhury will also perform Sattriya dance under her direction. The function will start at 6-30 pm of February 16, said the press communique.
Deva Goswami, who breathed his last on February 4, 2016, had made immense contribution towards the study of Neo-Vaishnavite literature and Sattriya dance of Assam. He was a renowned expert in the Sattriya performing arts.
