Makhibaha Sabha Mahotsav from Feb 23
 TIHU, Feb 14 - Like in previous years, this year too, the historic Makhibaha Sabha Mahotsav will be celebrated at the Hari Mandir premises with a nine-day-long colourful programme starting from February 23.

On the first day, the programme will begin with the unfurling of the flag at 9 am by Phanindra Nath Das, president of the Makhibaha Gramonnyan Committee. It will be followed by banti prajyalan and malyarpan. At 6 pm, the Mahotsav will be inaugurated by eminent litterateur Dr Jayanta Madhab Bora. Patacharkuchi MLA Pabin Chandra Deka and Dr Bhusan Chandra Pathak, principal of BH College, Howly, will attend the inaugural function as chief guest and appointed guests. Writer Ismile Hussain will release the souvenir, while three eminent octogenarian social workers, Jaleswar Pathak, Puspa Sarma and Mohodar Kalita will be felicitated.

Bhagawat paath, homjagya, nagara naam, dhulia and ayatir naam, will also be held on the occasion. On February 23, singers like Rupangkita, Anangkita and Rupam Kashyap will take part in the cultural nite. Singer Upasana Pathak is expected to perform on March 2. Theatre Bhagyadevi will also stage plays on February 28, 29 and on March 1, 2.

Seminar at Barama College: A national-level seminar under the aegis of the Education Department and Standard Measuring Trust of Barama College with the theme ‘Fee waiver in higher education: A challenge to the education system with reference to rural colleges of Assam’ will being organised at the college on February 26 and 27.
