Ops against anti-socials in Karimganj geared up
 NILAMBAZAR, Feb 14 - In a bid to curb anti-social activities, police has stepped up operations in Karimganj district.

As per information available, since Sunday last, police here busted several illegal gambling dens. Similarly on Monday night, police raided and cleared 20 gambling dens and picked up 11 people from different locations.

Sources said that under Karimganj Sadar Police Station, five raids were conducted by DSP ( HQ) Sudhany Suklabaidya and other police officers, while three raids were conducted in the railway station area.

Similarly, three raids were conducted at Purba Bazar area, two at Santar Bazar and Bridge Road area and seven in Silchar Road area.

Further, under Nilambazar and Patherkandi Police Station areas, nine such raids were conducted till Saturday night.

While talking to ANN Service, a senior police official informed that more operations would be carried out in the days to come in order to check anti-social activities in the district.

“Policemen have been asked to maintain strict vigil in vulnerable pockets so that gambling cannot be run,” he said.

Meanwhile, MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha too urged police to keep the district free from anti-social actitivies.
