DULIAJAN, Feb 14 - As per the directive of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) in association with Oil India Ltd and other petroleum companies is observing SAKSHAM-2020 from January 16 to February 15 this year. This is a month-long mass awareness drive with an objective of involving the citizens to actively participate in fuel conservation for health and environmental protection and simultaneously help in reducing India’s dependency on import of crude oil. This year the theme for SAKSHAM-2020 is ‘Indhan Adhik Na Khapayein, Aao Paryavaran Bachayein’.
SAKSHAM-2020 at OIL’s Field Head Quarter, Duliajan was inaugurated by Pranjit Deka, Resident Chief Executive, OIL in the presence of senior officials of OIL and employees. During the inaugural programme, a pledge-taking ceremony was held which was followed by distribution of SAKSHAM-2020 booklets, car stickers and publicity posters and ended with formation of a human chain by OIL employees at the Duliajan-situated Field Head Quarter, to create awareness about fuel conservation, health and environment.
During the observance of SAKSHAM-2020, various programmes such as cycle rally, walkathon, and emission checking of vehicles and equipment, etc., were organised in and around Duliajan. On the occasion, a ‘Saksham Cycle Day’ was organised by Oil India Ltd which started from Nehru Maidan, Duliajan in the OIL township.
The cycle rally was flagged off by Prasanta Borkakoty, in-charge RCE in the presence of Sanjay Kumar Rai, CGM (FHQ Affairs), Dilip Kumar Bhuyan, CGM (Public Affairs), Rajeeb Kumar Borah, GM (Land) and various other senior officials of OIL. The mass cycle rally received an overwhelming response with participation of over 550 cyclists.
A quiz competition was organised by the OIL at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Duliajan, which was actively participated by over 150 students. The theme for the competition was ‘Fuel Conservation’.
A walkathon was also organised by the OIL in which over 350 people from in and around Duliajan took part.
A ‘Free Emission Testing of Vehicles’ was organised at Bihutoli, Duliajan on February 9. Around 250 commercial and private vehicles were checked during the campaign. As part of SAKSHAM-2020, OIL had also organised an emission checking drive of petroleum consuming equipment at 12 OIL installations from February 5-8.
