Lu-Ngai-Ni fest celebrated in Manipur

 UKHRUL, Feb 14 - Lui-Ngai-Ni , the seed-sowing festival of the Nagas of Manipur was celebrated today with the theme ‘Sowing in tears; reaping in joy’ at Ukhrul district headquarter, about 85 km from Imphal.

Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang and Major General VS Sreenivas, IG Assam Rifles (South) attended the function. President of United Naga Council Gaidon Kamei and representatives of 17 tribes also attended the festival.

Lui-Ngai-Ni is one of the biggest festivals of the Naga community.

Zeliang appealed to the Nagas to unite so that a dawn of permanent peace may come and help develop the Naga society.

UNC President Gaidon Kamei said the August 3, 2015 framework agreement will be a harbinger of peace not only in North East but also will usher in the floodgate of peace in South East Asia.

On Monday, Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla will attend the festival along with Naga Hoho President P Chuba Ozukum.
