NBCC firm on clean elections in Nagaland
Correspondent
DIMAPUR, Feb 13 - The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has expressed its resolve to stand firm in propagating clean elections in Nagaland, particularly in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The NBCC, which has been vocal against election malpractices in the State, in a release, stated that clean elections was among the six-point resolutions adopted by it during its 82nd annual council meeting held in Kohima recently. The NBCC comprises 20 different church associations and four associate members.

The NBCC resolved to cooperate with the Nagaland Government in all their policies for the welfare of the people. However, the council said any programme or plan implemented at the cost of compromising Christian faith and Biblical values will not be entertained.

It decided to continually recognise and accept the remarkable and distinctive role of women in the Church and society and give them due credit and privileges. “This way it will encourage and create an opportunity for women to represent and take part in policy making even in the government,” the council said.
