HC decision on witch-hunting case hailed
 DIPHU, Feb 12 – Several organisations including the Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) and Karbi Nimcho Chingthur Asong (KNCA) submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court through the Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong district on Friday, welcoming the decision taken by the High Court to entrust the CBI with the investigation of the Howraghat witch-hunting case which later turned into a land grabbing controversy.

 A long rally was taken out on Friday by the supporters of KSA and KNCA here. Later, the memorandum was submitted to the DC of Karbi Anglong. It may be mentioned here that the memorandum signed by Babu Sing Ronghang, general secretary, KSA, Robin Teron, vice president, KSA, Makon Rongpharpi, vice president, KNCA and Basapi Taropi, propaganda secretary, KNCA raised several serious allegations including fund irregularities in Dima Hasao district and the Howraghat witch-hunting case against the State HAD Minister, Kharsing Engti.

According to reports available, the same memorandum was submitted to the High Court Chief Justice through the Subdivisional Officers (Civil) and officers-in-charge of Hamren and Bokajan subdivisions and Howraghat, Kheroni, Ulukunsi, Sowkihola and Rongbongwe police stations respectively.
