Dacoits gun down 1 near Borghat bypass |
NAGAON, Feb 10 - In a shocking roadside robbery, a Swift Dezire-borne gang of dacoits well equipped with arms last night gunned down a person and injured two others with bullets on NH-37 near Borghat bypass Chariali, just 300-400 metres away from the Borghat bypass Police Patrolling Camp in Nagaon and also looted 8 mobile handsets and money in cash from a Bolero pickup van when the van was coming back from Hojai towards Golaghat after unloading furniture sets of a newly-married bride at the bridegroom’s house at Hojai.
According to sources, the deceased person has been identified as Keshab Rana of Golaghat and the injured are Kamal Chetry and Sanjib Chetry of the same village in Golaghat. Sources said that the gang of dacoits consisting of 7/8 members in the car stopped the Bolero pickup van on NH 37 near Borghat bypass Chariali and tried to loot them at gun point. When one of occupants of the pick-up van tried to resist, the dacoits fired at them and snatched away eight mobile handsets and money in cash they had with them. The driver of the pickup van meanwhile sped away towards Kaliabor. At Misa, the driver turned his van into the police station and reported the matter. Misa Police immediately admitted all the injured persons to a local hospital where the doctor declared one of them brought dead. Nagaon police has registered a case in this regard.
Body of missing youth recovered: On the other hand, in connection with the mysterious missing of a youth of Juria from a house of a widow at Morongiyal in Nagaon town, Nagaon Sadar police on Sunday morning recovered the body of the missing youth from the backyard of the house of the widow and also arrested the alleged main culprit. According to sources, the nabbed person has been identified as Abu Bakkar who is the own brother of the missing youth Abdul Shiddick. The police on Sunday morning, on the basis of Abu’s statement recovered the body of the deceased youth.
