GUWAHATI, Feb 10 - Kamrup (Metro) emerged as the best team by winning a total of 123 medals including 34 gold, 34 silver and 55 bronze medals while Jorhat secured the second spot with a total of 27 medals including 10 gold, 4 silver and 13 bronze.
Barpeta occupied the third position in the medals tally by winning nine medals including five gold, four silver and one bronze.
The championship was officially inaugurated by the senior vice president of Karate Association of India (KAI) Bharat Sharma in presence of senior sports organiser Premadhar Sarma, UKAA working president Bhuban Lahkar and vice president Sharmila Deka. Also present during the occasion were the newly elected office bearers of KAI including president Likha Tara, general secretary Ambedkar Gupta, treasurer Premjit Sen, vice presidents Viraf Vatcha and Hariprasad Patnayak, among others.
Advik Majumdar of Guwahati and Hanee Ali of Barpeta won the best of the best children (10-13 years) boys and girls award respectively while Dikshit Priyam Parasar of Guwahati and Rimpi Borah of Jorhat won the best of the best youth cup (14-17 years) in male and female category respectively. All the best of the best children and youth players received cash award of Rs 4000 and a kit bag each.
