SHILLONG, Feb 10 - The CBI is questioning former journalist turned MP, Kunal Ghosh face-to-face with Kolkata Police chief, Rajeev Kumar here at the CBI’s anti-corruption branch office in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam investigations.
It’s the second day Kumar is being questioned for his alleged role in tampering evidence related to the scam while its Ghosh’s first day of questioning. Official sources said that Kumar would be questioned in “two to three different cases.”
Ghosh arrived at the CBI’s Oakland office after 10 am and after praying at a Puja Pandal close to the CBI office went in. Before he entered the office he said: “I have been asked to attend the hearing at this office. I have always cooperated with the investigating agency. So I have come to attend…” Ghosh said.
The former Trinamool Congress MP had earlier accused the Kolkata police chief of tampering with evidence while he headed the Special Investigating Team to probe into the scam.
Ghosh has also accused Mukul Roy of being involved in the scam. Roy was a close aide of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. However, both the leaders fell apart and Roy joined the BJP.
According to official sources, Kumar didn’t cooperate with the investigators. “Kumar is finding difficulty to answer some of the questions. He is likely to be questioned for the next two-to-three days,” an official source said.
Meanwhile, CBI Investigation Officer in the Rose Valley scam, Shojan Sherpa entered the CBI’s office later and joined the investigating team. The questioning is still on while filing this report.
