City Correspondent GUWAHATI, Feb 10 - The protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, was the theme of the Saraswati Puja this time at many institutions of higher education across the State, including Guwahati.
Students offering prayers during the Saraswati Puja observed at Cotton University.
An artistic protest was staged against the Bill on the premises of Cotton University and Gauhati University today. At Cotton University, students installed a map of the North East with a banner and placards against the Bill.
Nevertheless, the Puja was celebrated with pomp and gaiety all over the State. Educational institutions across the State were teeming with students who paid their obeisance to the Goddess of Learning.
Every year, the Saraswati Puja also provides the students of schools and colleges an opportunity to come out in their best attires and spend quality time with their friends.
The Puja was also observed on the Assam Tribune premises and at the Guwahati Press Club. The rituals were held early in the morning, followed by the distribution of prasad.
On the other hand, heavy traffic congestion was witnessed from the morning to the evening hours on many roads of the city.
