Lui Ngai Ni fest

 IMPHAL, Feb 10 - Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang will attend the two-day Lui Ngai Ni, the seed-sowing festival of Nagas in Manipur’s Ukhrul district headquarter on February 14 while Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla will be the chief guest at the concluding day’s function on February 15.

“About 1,600 official delegates from 16 Naga tribes, besides thousands of delegates from India and abroad will participate in the celebration,” said TS Warngam, Convenor of State Level Organising Committee of Lui Ngai Ni festival.

Lui Ngai Ni is celebrated during the onset of Spring season. During the festival, the Gods are invoked for blessing of the seeds of crops so that they yield bounteous harvest. The blessing of the Almighty is beseeched with expressions through dances, songs and rituals, a press release said.
