River Rine edge past GTC for crown

 GUWAHATI, Feb 10 – River Rine Club posted a 17-run victory against Gauhati Town Club (GTC) Coaching Centre to clinch the title in the Hemanta Baruah Inter Institution (U-16) Cricket Tournament.

In a close final at the Latasil playground here today, River Rine gathered 163 all out in 29.3 overs after batting first and later restricted the opponent to 146 for eight in the allotted 30 overs.

Nikhil Basfor remained the top scorer with 52 for the winning team while Riyan Parag contributed 55 to GTC total which was, however, not enough in dragging his team to the winning total. Nikhil Basfor and Riyan Parag were adjudged as the man-of-the-tournament and man-of-the-match respectively. The best bowler award went to Rituraj Biswas while Nikhil Basfor received the best batsman trophy.

In the closing function GMDA Chairman Dhiren Baruah was present as chief guest. Anuja Bhuyan, Fatik Baruah, RP Baruah, Mukut Das, Raju Phukan, Satya Gopal Chakravorty, were also present on the occasion and gave away different prizes. The championship was organised by the Ankurjyoti Club.
