|88th session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha begins|
MORIGAON, Feb 6 - The 88th session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha got under way today with a four-day colourful programme at Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaroa Samannay Khetra, Morigaon.
The programme started with the cleanliness drive at 5 am followed by ‘pratah prasanga’. This was followed by massive plantation programme launched by 16 distinguished citizens of Morigaon district. The main gateway was opened by Narayan Radu Kakoti, literary pensioner at 8.30 am. The gateway to the exhibition and book fair was formally opened by Rituraj Bora, Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon. The ‘naamghar’ was inaugurated by Milik Chandra Mahanta, Satradhikar, Ram Ata Satra, Barangabari.
The delegates’ camp was inaugurated by Paban Manta, CEM, Tiwa Autonomous Council. Meanwhile, thousands of devotees from different parts of the State thronged the delegates’ camp of Sahityarathi Samannay Khetra.
The main highlights of today’s programme was the ‘book release’ function. The souvenir, Krishna Kathamrit was formally released by Dr Kandarpa Kumar Deka, Vice-Chancellor, Srimanta Sankardev University. As many as ten valuable books were released in the function by noted personalities– Dr Kandarpa Kumar Deka, Vice-Chancellor, Srimanta Sankardev University, Hrishikesh Goswami, Media Adviser, Chief Minister, Maneswar Deori, Tiwa language researcher.
The function was presided over by Dr Jagat Kalita, president, literary section of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha.
In the evening, a cultural programme was organised.
