Police rescues Kashmiri trader from confinement

 NAGAON, Feb 5 - Nagaon Police arrested three fruits retailers from the town today on charges of looting and kidnapping a Kashmiri businessman and also rescued the businessman from their clutches after he was confined in a house at Nagaon Kadamtol area for many hours. The gang even threatened to chop him up with sharp weapons during his confinement and snatched cash and his ATM card.

According to sources, the arrested local traders involved in the crime, have been identified as Nasiruddin Ahmed, Ramja Hazarika and Kazimuddin Ahmed. Police sources told local media persons here that many fruits retailers of the district had been purchasing fruits directly from one Kashmiri fruits wholesaler, Jahur Ahmed Lan, for many years just on a telephonic conversation and the payable amount was being deposited by the purchasers into his bank account. Some of the traders of the district had not paid for many months and because of that Jahur Ahmed Lan arrived at Nagaon to collect his outstanding balance amount from them. Staying for over a month at a house at Samaguri Sonaibali area, the Kashmiri businessman Jahur contacted many traders who had to pay the remaining balance and collected the money from them.

Lan also contacted Nasiruddin, Ramja and Kazimuddin too for the payable dues. These three local traders directed him to visit them at Nagaon Kadamtol area for the payment, sources said adding that when Jahur arrived at Kadamtol accordingly, the three traders locked him in a house where they threatened to chop him and looted the cash he had and also snatched away his bank ATM cards and other belongings.

Meanwhile, receiving a secret tip-off, Nagaon Police immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the businessman from their custody and also picked up all the three traders from the spot.
