|89th session of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha begins at Kamargaon|

KAZIRANGA SAMANWAY KSHETRA (Dergaon), Feb 5 - “Knowledge with skill for personality development is a must for social development. We must follow the ideals of the great saint Srimanta Sankardeva for the betterment of the society.”
This was stated by the Vice-Chancellor of the Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, Dr Kandarpa Kumar Deka after releasing a souvenir at a function held in the today on the inaugural day of the four-day-long programme of the 89th annual session of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha (SSS) session, the largest socio-religious organisation in the North-east at Kamargaon in Golaghat district.
In the meeting, four books published by the reception committee namely Bhakti Sahityar Rasanubhav, Impact of Gita on the Namghosha, Pariveshya Kala Abriti and Bhaktire Pranipat were also released.
Taking part in the programme, noted litterateur Dr Karabi Deka Hazarika said that Srimanta Sankardeva was the saint for all days in Assam. “We must realise the core areas of Srimanta Sankardeva’s writings”, she said.
The meeting chaired by the Padadhikar of Sankardeva Sangha Kamala Kanta Gogoi and moderated by Mrinal Kr Baruah was attended by the Deputy Padadhikar Basundhar Deka, and adviser Bhabananda Deka.
In the meeting, several other books published by individual writers were also released by dignitaries.
Earlier, the four-day-long programme began with the plantation of saplings initiated by the DFO Bokakhat Ramesh Ch Gogoi along with ten others. The main welcome gate erected in the memory of Paramananda Aatoi was inaugurated by Nagendra Nath Baruah. The Bhola Baruah memorial namghar gate was inaugurated by Lekkhoram Baruah while the gate of the reception committee (RC) was inaugurated by the SDO (Civil) Vivek Shyam. The office of the RC was inaugurated by former MLA of Bokakhat Arun Phukan while the main office of the RC was inaugurated by the Circle Officer Bokakhat Khanindra Kr Das.
Inaugurating the book fair and exhibition, the founder president of All Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (AAPCU), Bhabesh Saikia said that books were the mirror of a society. The Kuladhar Nath memorial dinning hall’s gate was inaugurated by former MLA of Bokakhat Jiten Gogoi. DIG of Assam Police Satyaraj Hazarika in presence of SP Golaghat Pushpraj Singh inaugurated the gate of Sewa Bahini, the main sister concern organisation of SSS.
The Vaishnav Pandit Sonaram Chutia memorial main pandal and Benuram Baruah memorial main stage were inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Golaghat Bibhash Ch Modi. The Murong ghar in which accommodation has been provided for the Padadhikar and General Secretary of SSS is being prepared by the 36 units of SSS with Mising community in the Brahmaputra areas in Golaghat district at their own cost and it was inaugurated by Jogesh Loying, a social worker.
In the evening, the meeting of the Publicity Committee and Education Committee of SSS were held. That was followed by presentation of ankia bhaona and artiste Aideu Handique memorial cultural function.
Minister and the working president of RC Atul Bora is conducting the overall management.
Till the filling of this report 10,000 delegates have reached the session site.
In the open discussion of the Literature Committee, Governor Prof Jagadish Mukhi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarmah are likely to take part.
