NALBARI, Feb 4 - A day-long farmers’ demonstration programme on rice-value chain was held at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra here on Friday.
The programme was jointly organised by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and Assam Agri-Business and Rural Transformation Project (APART) in association with KVK, Nalbari.
Around 25 progressive farmers and millers from various parts of Nalbari district took part in the programme. Dr Abdul Rauf and Dr Kasturi Goswami, experts from IRRI, said that in order to improve the agricultural sector of the state, the farmers must adopt modern production technologies.
They added that in order to fetch better market price, the farmers need to produce quality products in large quantities. The primary duty of the farmers is to make quality produce abundantly available so as to create a good market. The excess products may be conveniently converted into value-added products.
