Renowned Assamese artiste Jnanda Bora passes away

 NAGAON, Feb 4 - Renowned Assamese actor, director, playwright and an artiste pensioner of the State as well as the district, Jnanda Bora passed away on Sunday morning here at a private nursing home at Hoiborgaon in Nagaon town due to old-age ailments. He was 86.

He played various roles in Assamese feature films, telefilms like Monprajapati, Maram Trishna, Ahotgurir natun baat, television serials like Biyalishar Swahid, Uttaran, Bidruh, Lachit Barphukon, Alandhu, Mukhyamantri. Simultaneously, he also played a series of roles on various stages of the State as well as abroad.

He was one of the close associates of Dr Bhupen Hazarika. Dr Hazarika was a routine guest of Jnanda Bora whenever Dr Hazarika visited Nagaon. Bora was born in 1937 at Nagaon. He left behind his son.

His demise was deeply condoled by various organisations as well as dignitaries of the district like the district bodies of AJYCP, AASU, Krishak Sramik Unnayan Parishad, Assam, Asom Gana Parishad, Asom Yuva Parishad, Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha, the district unit of the All Assam Journalists’ Union, Nagaon Press Club, the district committee of the All Assam Working Journalists Union, MLA Rupak Sarma, former Chief Minister and senior AGP leader PK Mahanta, former ministers Rokibul Hussain, Girindra Kr Boruah and others.
