Leopard terror in city for second day
City Correspondent

GUWAHATI, Feb 4 - Close on the heels of a leopard causing panic in the Satgaon area of the city on Sunday, another leopard created a similar situation in Guwahati this morning.

According to Officer-in-charge of the Chandmari Police Station Biren Chandra Deka, the leopard was sighted inside the Bamunimaidan industrial area.

“It took around three hours to tranquilise and capture the leopard and finally a team from the Forest department trapped the animal inside a drain. Later it was sent to the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden,” Deka said.

According to Bijoy Gogoi, veterinary officer of the Zoo who led the team to capture the feline, it was a female adult leopard that might have come from the nearby forest area. It will be released in the wild later.

It may be recalled that on Sunday, a leopard had strayed into the Satgaon area, entered a residence and attacked a woman, before being tranquilised and captured.
