|Number of rescued persons in Manipur rises to 180|
IMPHAL,Feb 3 - The number of rescued girls and males, suspected to be trafficked from Nepal, in Manipur, since Friday, has increased to 180, including 32 males so far, officials said today.
According to Deputy Director, Social Welfare department Binobala Nongmeipakpam, the rescued persons have been sent to protective and rehabilitative homes in the State.
Initially, 40 girls were rescued along with a suspected trafficker from hotels at Moreh, a border town in Manipur, on Friday. In the follow up operations in the State capital here and Moreh since Friday, the remaining girls and male members were rescued, the sources added.
Police have arrested six suspected traffickers in connection with the case and investigation is on.
