Crackdown on sand mining at Maloibari
Correspondent
JORABAT, Feb 3 - A team led by Sonapur Forest Ranger Gautam Mahanta launched a crackdown on illegal sand mining in the Dimoria area, during which a total of five sand mining sites were demolished at Maloibari this morning.

The illegal mining activities have been a major cause for concern along the Kolong-Kapili river considering the fact that it is located in the Kamrup Metro-Morigaon border area.

In a bid to plug the loopholes, more measures would be taken to check the illegal sand mining and transportation activities, Mahanta said. The ranger has asked his team to carry out regular checks to ensure that no sand mining takes place in the region.

Around 10 sand mining sites were demolished at Oujari with the help of an earth-mover last Friday, during which a dumper was also seized.
