GUWAHATI, Feb 3 - The 10th biennial general meeting (BGM) of the NF Railway Pensioners’ Association will be held at the Central Pandu Railway Institute on February 5, said a press release here today.
“The BGM is organised at a very crucial moment when the report of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) has been published and is under the scrutiny of the High Power Implementation Committee approved by the Cabinet. The pensioners in general are very much dissatisfied and unhappy with the CPC report. The Commission has belied all hopes and expectations of the pensioners. Except the parity of pension with present and past pensioners all the demands of the pensioners have not been considered, said the Association in its press release.
The demands of the Association include restoration of commutation amount after 12 years, payment of additional pension to be started from 65 years and improvement of medical facilities including issue of Smart Card, among others.
But these demands have not been considered by the CPC at the diktats of the Government, even as prices of all the essential items are abnormally rising making life miserable for the pensioners, specially for the poorer among them, said the Association, adding, the BGM will address all these issues.
