BADARPUR, Feb 3 - The All India Radio, Silchar Regional News Unit (RNU), observed its 38th foundation day recently with various programmes.
On this occasion, two special programmes were broadcast by AIR Silchar, arranged by the RNU. These two programmes were: a group discussion on the topic ‘Anchalik Sambad O Kichukatha’ where a former news reader of AIR, Silchar, Pradeep Mukhopaddhaya and Barak Valley’s noted journalist Atin Das took part. They explained various vital points regarding the regional news of Silchar.
In another programme, ‘Abhiggatar Aaloke – Silchar Sambade – Aatrish Bachar’, Sarmistha Biswas, news reader, highlighted different anecdotes of AIR Silchar during her career.
It may be noted here that the RNU of AIR Silchar was established on February 1, 1978, and after that, the news section of the region made a name for itself, which was much appreciated by the people of Barak Valley.
At present, the RNU of AIR Silchar is broadcasting the regional news bulletin at 7.35 am and 7.45 pm regularly. Besides, news bulletins in Dimasa and Manipuri languages, Bengali translation of the proceedings of the State Assembly session, and news related to elections and poll results are also being broadcast by the station.
Several dignitaries like Silchar MP Susmita Dev, Karimganj MP Radheshyam Biswas, former MP Kabindra Purkayastha, Barak Banga Central Committee president Nitish Bhattacharyya, Cachar DC S Viswanathan and several other noted personalities have congratulated the Regional News Unit of AIR Silchar for completion of 38 years of dedicated services to the area.
