|World Cancer Day today|
GUWAHATI, Feb 3 - In keeping with this year’s theme for World Cancer Day, ‘We Can, I Can’ that highlights the importance of collective and individual efforts towards cancer control, Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) will celebrate the occasion at its auditorium from 11.30 am tomorrow.
“Like-minded individuals and organisations have been invited to collaborate with the institute in its efforts towards cancer control in North-East India and Assam in particular. Proactive participation of all the participants is solicited, and there will be a discussion on measures and steps to counter the menace of cancer,” BBCI Director Dr AC Kataki said.
During the function, the BBCI management will felicitate donors , volunteers and members from NGOs who are working for the cause of cancer control in the region.
The World Cancer Day was started by the Union for International Cancer Control under the World Health Organization. The World Cancer Day is part of the cancer campaign, which started at the world summit against cancer held in Paris on February 4, 2000.
The World Cancer Day is celebrated every year to spread a message among the public and the media through various themes.
