GUWAHATI, Feb 3 - The State government today said that the Supreme Court has not stopped it from distributing yarn and blankets to poor beneficiaries.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rakibul Hussain told reporters during a press conference in the Legislative Assembly complex that the scheme for distribution of yarn and blankets is not among the schemes that have been stopped by the Supreme Court last month.
He also alleged that there is a conspiracy by the BJP to ensure that schemes meant for benefit of poor beneficiaries are closed down.
Meanwhile, the Centre has selected Khetri panchayat of Kamrup Metro among the 10 best panchayats in the country based on a survey.
“The Centre has given recognition to our panchayat. However, it has slashed funding to Assam under MGNREGA,” he said.
Hussain requested the Centre to provide funds to Assam under MGNREGA and Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) as per the figures decided earlier and not based on the new formula under which the funding has been reduced.
