Dr Suryya Chutiya new Principal of Tinsukia College

 DOOMDOOMA, Jan 31 - Dr Suryya Chutiya has taken over the charge of the permanent Principal of Tinsukia College, a premier higher educational institution of Upper Assam. Currently over 4000 students of Assam and neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh are pursuing their studies in Science, Arts and Commerce streams of the college. Several skill development and vocational courses and the study centres of open universities are also running in the college.

Dr Suryya Chutiya joined the college as an assistant professor of Economics in 2001. A permanent resident of Saru Patia Gaon of Dhakuakhana, Dr Chutiya had served in the Economics department of North Lakhimpur College for two years before joining the Tinsukia College.

Representing the North East as an NSS officer, Dr Chutiya participated in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi in 2015. He also received the State award as an NSS officer. He has participated in 30 national and international seminars and presented 23 papers in these seminars. He has published a book and edited two other books.

People of the district hope that the new Principal will able to give a new dimension to the college which has completed its diamond jubilee.
