BONGAIGAON, Dec 30 - Bongaigaon Refinery (BGR) under its ‘Bringing Smile’ mission has provided pure drinking water to the villagers in Chirang along the Indo-Bhutan border under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme.
Chirang Deputy Commissioner Gautam Talukdar inaugurated the water supply facilities recently in the presence of GC Sikdar, Chief General Manager (in-charge) of Bongaigaon Refinery and other officials concerned.
The villagers hailed the initiative of the refinery for providing drinking water.
“We had to collect water from the nearby rivers and now the problem is over,” a group of villagers said.
Considering the perennial problem of drinking water in these villages, the district administration had shared its concern with the Refinery authority and accordingly the Refinery undertook the responsibility to provide potable water facility to these villages having over 2,000 population. The water project, which is being executed by the district administration as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will be completed within four months, Refinary officials informed.
