JORHAT, Dec 30 – The first edition of a Nagamese dictionary compiled by Dr Bhim Kanta Barua was formally released at a modest function at Jatiya Bhaban here on Friday.
“About 8000 words have been included in this dictionary. This is the first dictionary in Nagamese,” said Dr Barua.
New Delhi based publication house Mittal Publication has published the lexicon.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief editor of Asomiya Jatiya Abhidhan, Dr Debabrata Sarma said that the dictionary will help immensely for the development of the language as well as building bridges of friendship and making peace and amity possible among the people of Nagaland and Assam.
The president of the Ao Naga Hoho, Dr Sangyu Yaden and many other dignitaries from Nagaland and Assam were present at the function. Dr Barua informed.
