|Tripura Govt tightens grip on real estate sector|
AGARTALA, Dec 29 - In a bid to bring total transparency in the fast-growing real estate sector in the State, the Tripura Government has tightened the noose around the developers, builders and promoters.
From today onwards, a developer/builder/promoter who wants to build flats or housing complexes having over 500 sq km floor area or eight apartments will have to register his/her firm with the Tripura Real Estate Regulatory Authority (T-RERA).
To make the process hassle-free, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb unveiled a web portal (rera.tripura.gov.in) at a simple ceremony held here recently.
T-RERA will enable the government to keep a close eye on the functioning and activities of developers, promoters and builders. The people will be immensely benefited as developers are bound to provide flats as they had promised to them at the time of booking.
“Besides, they will not be able to take any extra money from the flat buyers,” said an official of the Urban Development department here today.
“The government will monitor and try to ensure that no prospective flat buyer is cheated in any manner. All the developers, promoters and builders will have to work as per the guidelines laid down by the Urban Development department,” he said.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated e-municipal serves through Common Service Centres (CSCs).
“This will enable the citizens to avail 17 services offered by Agartala Municipal Corporation. The dwellers of Agartala municipal area and other civic bodies will no longer be needed to visit the offices to pay taxes and other charges. Anybody can avail these 17 services through the CSCs. It will also boost the income of the people running the CSCs,” he said.
“The inauguration of the web-portal and e-municipality service is aimed at fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of digitising the government works,” he said.
As of now, there are 219 CSCs in 20 urban bodies while 17 online services such as property tax, water tax, application for trade license, permission for building construction, garbage clearance, septic tank clearance, etc.
