 SILCHAR, Dec 28 - At a time when police has urged people of the state to stay cautious while posting comments and posts on social media, especially during the tumultuous phase that the state is undergoing, Karimganj Police arrested an imam of a mosque in Karimganj district for allegedly conveying objectionable posts on social media.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Karimganj Dr Debojit Nath informed The Assam Tribune that the accused, identified as Moin Uddin (30), a resident of Fatehpur village in Kaliganj area of the district, was arrested on Saturday from Badarpur for inflammatory posts on his Facebook account.

He is charged in Case No. 1227 under sections 124A, 153B of the IPC and 66 of the IT Act and was produced before the court, Dr Nath informed.
