Integrated Health Information Platform launched in Manipur

IMPHAL, Dec 25 - Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) for Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) was recently launched in Manipur.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar Singh launched the programme in presence of Principal Secretary (Health) Vumlunmang Vaulnum and Director (Health Services) Dr K Rajo Singh at the South Block of the State Secretariat here.

The Regional Director, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), was also present on the occasion, an official source said.

With this successful launching, now sub-centres of Bishnupur district will be reporting to the IHIP.

Launching the platform, Jayantakumar said that it is a step towards universal health coverage. Every case will no longer be just a number but will have an identity.

“Now, reports will be more accurate and decision-making will be easier and faster. The benefit of this platform will reach every corner of the State,” he said.

The Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) is a web-enabled near-real-time electronic information system that is embedded with all applicable Central government’s e-Governance standards, Information Technology (IT), data and meta data standards to provide state-of-the-art single operating picture with geospatial information for managing disease outbreaks and related resources.

It may be mentioned that Manipur became the eighth State in the country after Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, and the first in the Northeast to launch IHIP.

The Principal Secretary (Health) said that 11 sub-centres of Bishnupur district are provided with ANMOL (Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery) tablet PCs.

By using these tablets, nurses can share health-related data and information with doctors and hospitals from the very place where they are attending to the patients, he said. Immediate medical relief and treatment will be made possible through this platform.

On the other hand, the Director (Health Services) said that IHIP will help in preventing fragmentation of health data all over the country. It will also integrate the data and its sources from public and private units.
