Sports Reporter GUWAHATI, Dec 25 - Mumbai Rockets made a flying start against Delhi Dashers by winning both the opening games of the ongoing Premier Badminton League at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium in Sarusajai here today.

Mumbai went 1-0 ahead by clinching the men’s doubles 14-15, 15-14, 15-10. Sameer Verma defeated Vincent Wong Wing Ki 15-14, 15-10 in the men’s singles. It was a Trump match for Vincent as a result Delhi lost one additional point.
Delhi Dashers made a winning start in the men’s doubles opening game against Mumbai Rockets 15-14. The Russian duo of Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov rallied to beat Lee Yong-dae of South Korea and Tan Boon Heong of Malaysia in the gruelling first game.
The second game was also a true thriller as like the first one the score line stood at 14-14 before the Mumbai pair clinched the final point to level the issue. The final game started with a thrilling note as both the teams went neck to neck till the middle. However, the Mumbai pair extended the lead after 6-6. The Delhi team made some unforced errors and surrendered the game 10-15.
Indian shuttler Sameer Verma fought well against Vincent of Hong Kong and forced him to make several unforced errors in both the games. Sameer was superior in defence and attack and played with total control in both the games. Vincent, who fought till the end of the first game, was trailing in the second. In the later stage he tried to make a comeback but Sameer finally managed to win the game convincingly with some powerful smashes and placements.
