GUWAHATI, Dec 25 - An orientation programme on ‘Implementation of Master Plan and Building Byelaw by the Gaon Panchayats and Town Committees in Guwahati Metropolitan Area’ was organised by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) in collaboration with the Institute of Town Planners, India, North East Regional Chapter on December 22 at the conference hall of GMDA.
President and secretary from all the eight Gaon Panchayats within the jurisdiction of Guwahati Master Plan Area and North Guwahati Town Committee along with their technical personnel participated in the programme.
Inaugurating the programme, GMDA Chairman Dhiren Baruah appealed to all participants to work for a better Guwahati and also appealed to the members to work for improving necessary infrastructure and services in their respective area to make Guwahati a prominent and beautiful city in Asia.
Explaining the role of the Institute of Town Planners, India, North East Regional Chapter, Anjali Goswami, Chairman of the Chapter, apprised all the members that the Chapter is dedicated to work for the cause of orderly growth of all the towns and cities in NE.
Dalim Gogoi, ex-urban consultant, GMDA, and Jitendra Sarma Kakoty, present town planner, GMDA, made a few deliberations to make the Gaon Panchayat members aware of their role in implementing the Master Plan and Building Bye law for Guwahati.
