GUWAHATI, Dec 25 - In the run-up to the publication of part draft of the NRC, Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu today directed officials to hold awareness meetings in their respective revenue circles.
The direction was given at a review meeting held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner. At the meeting, the DC reviewed the progress of the activities for preparation of part draft publication of the NRC. He also directed the ADCs, SDOs and circle officers concerned to properly supervise the entire arrangement of the preparation.
He also directed the officers to hold awareness meetings among the public at micro level in their respective revenue circles and NRC Seva Kendra (NSK) areas and at thana level. Citizen committees, leading citizens and eminent personalities should be invited to the meetings, he said.
Angamuthu said the law-and-order situation should be maintained properly and directed officials to ensure that no panic is created among citizens regarding the NRC updating process. The part draft of NRC will be published and displayed at the 78 NSKs and also on online mode. The draft NRC will be displayed for public from January 1.
Angamuthu also said that cases of persons whose names are not enlisted – maybe due to non-completion of office verification or some discrepancies – in this part draft would be considered as “pending, which will be considered in the next phase”.
There will be five copies of the draft NRC, out of which one will be original. He also directed the officers to make alternative arrangement for space on government premises if there are no sufficient spaces at the NSKs for displaying the draft NRC.
