NETF tourney comes to an end

 GUWAHATI, Dec 24 – The 20th All Assam Naman Sekhar Bhuyan Ranking Junior Tennis Championship, organised by North East Tennis Foundation came to an end at its Dispur complex today.

Madhurjya Dutta became champion in the boys U-18 category with a convincing 6-1, 6-4 victory against Saidul Islam. Madhurjya, who suffered an injury in a road accident few months ago recovered to a satisfactory state and came out strongly in this tournament with the title.

The girls U-18 title went to Rizuana Begum who defeated Priyana Kalita 6-4, 6-3 in a well contested final.

Bijoy Mohanty won the boys U-14 title with a 6-2, 6-2 straight set victory against Raunak Bora while girls U-14 crown was captured by Maitry Phukan defeating Priyana Kalita 6-0, 6-0 in the final.

In mixed doubles summit clash Dhruba Baruah-Santana Baruah got the better of Nagen Baruah-Purabi Bhuyan 6-0, 6-1.

Gautam Ganguly-AK Endow pair defeated Ajit Gogoi-Tanu Singh in the veterans’ above 55 rears category final while Rajib Dutta-Nabarun Saikia duo downed Ranib Bora-Rajnish Goswami 6-2, 2-6, 11-9 in the gruelling final.
